Cap Set-Up
1. Cap Sizes
- Use measuring tape to measure head circumference in centimeters (cm). See NIRS cap user guide for detailed information on how to measure properly or view the video tutorial.
- NIRS cap sizes come in whole, even numbers from 52-60.
- If head size is not an exact, even number then round up/down accordingly:
53 or lower = 52 cap
53.1 - 55 = 54 cap
55.1 - 57 = 56 cap
57.1 - 59 = 58 cap
59.1 or higher = 60 cap
2. Add Grommets/Labels
If you need to set-up your cap's montage, use the cap accessory kit to add the grommets and labels. Use grommet rings to secure grommet base to cap (do NOT use ring for sources that will be connected using a short channel bundle)
3. Add short channel bundles
If using short channels, flip the cap inside out and connect the short channel sources. Use wire organizer clips to hold down short channel wires so they don't block grommets.
4. Add source/detector optode cables
You can connect cables in any order you want, but starting from back of head can make organizing cables easier. If using short channels, don't forget to connect appropriate detector optode to short channel bundle using the canisters
5. Organize cables
After all cables are connected, try to organize them to improve slack/relieve heaviness at the back of the head. You can use trees, straps, fiber arm, etc
6. Connect cables to device
Make sure that you are connecting the cable to the correct plug on the amplifier. Note whether cable is source/detector and number (1-8 or 9-16)
